BidJoy

See how BidJoy works.

Running a live auction for your charity is hard work. BidJoy makes it simpler. Here is the path, from setup to the last payment.

1

Setup

Creating the auction takes four quick steps.

  1. Create the auction

Give it a title, a subdomain on bidjoy.org (we help you pick one, such as riverside.bidjoy.org) and a description.

  2. Set the details

Choose the start and end times, whether items start at staggered times, and whether people can bid before the live event begins. Add your sellers. We support more than one, so loading items is easier.

  3. Choose shipping and payment

Many auctions are pick-up only. Some ship only. You choose. Practise with the payment simulator, which pretends to collect money without collecting any.

  4. Share the QR codes

Your finished auction gets a QR code, and so does each lot. Print them on flyers and next to the items so people reach your auction fast.

2

Listing items

Listing an item is just as easy.

  1. Start a listing

Pick a category from the ones in your live auction, so people can find the item. Add a title, a short description and a long description.

  2. Set the price rules

Set the price, a reserve, Buy Now and more. Snipe protection is on by default. It lets an item run a few minutes past its close if there is a bidding war. You can turn it off.

  3. Add pictures

Upload up to 12 images for each item.

  4. Add it to the auction

Once the draft is made, it is ready to add to your auction.

3

Bidding and payment

Once your auction begins, people can sign in by scanning a QR code.

  1. Scan the QR code

Bidders scan the QR code on a lot and land on that lot at your auction site. They need no app.

  2. Sign in with a text code

Bidders enter a mobile phone number and the code we text them. There is no password. We use the number to send updates on their bids.

  3. Bid and get texts

Bids rise up to the maximum that each bidder placed, until there is a high bidder. Anyone outbid gets a text with a link to bid again.

  4. Win and pay

When the auction ends, and snipe protection is done, the winner gets a congratulations text and a link to their cart. They pay by cash or check if collected in person, or by card in person or online.

  5. Confirmation

When payment is confirmed for all the items won, the bidder gets an email. The organiser sees every sale and its payment status.

Raffles

Texas raffles

BidJoy also runs raffles under Texas rules. A raffle is not listed for the public to browse. Only participants who have signed in can reach it.

Ask us how raffles work for your organisation, and see the site at bidjoy.org.
